In May of 2016, a young soldier's life was tragically cut short during a training exercise in Louisiana. Private First Class Victor J. Stanfill, a 19-year-old infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division, was participating in a live-fire drill at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk. Originally from Fulton, Maryland, Stanfill had enlisted in the Army the previous September and was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
