In the early part of 2018, a wave of gun violence in Detroit claimed the life of 17-year-old Jacob Williams. The young man was in a stolen van with a 16-year-old friend in southwest Detroit when the incident occurred. As they sat in the vehicle on Proctor Street, a dark-colored SUV or PT Cruiser pulled alongside them. Without warning, shots were fired from the other vehicle, striking both teenagers.
