In a tragic turn of events on a Friday night in the Gardere area of Baton Rouge, a man's attempt to bring peace to his community cost him his life. Charles Barney, a 33-year-old man, was fatally shot outside his apartment on November 13, 2015. Friends and witnesses remembered him as a peacemaker, someone who consistently tried to resolve conflicts and maintain order in his neighborhood. It was this very nature that led to the confrontation that ended his life.
