In the early hours of Christmas Day in 2014, a dispute inside a Hahnville, Louisiana bar tragically escalated, ending the life of 23-year-old David Scott. A Black male from Houston, Scott was at Butt Cuts Bar on Joe Louis Lane when an argument erupted with another man over a woman. That man, later identified as Larry C. Thompson, 36, of Boutte, pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking Scott multiple times.
