In the spring of 2014, the life of 41-year-old Karen Denise Johnson, an African American woman from Shreveport, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. On the evening of April 7th, police responded to a call of shots fired and discovered Johnson under the carport of a home on Valley View Drive. She had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a woman's scream followed by the sound of a gunshot, a chilling prelude to the discovery of Johnson's body.
