On a summer afternoon in New Orleans, tragedy struck in the 2400 block of Arts Street. On July 10, 2012, at approximately 2:00 p.m., neighbors were startled by the sound of multiple gunshots. In the backyard of his grandmother's home, 18-year-old Jaquon Jasper Pittman was found, having been fatally shot in the chest. Another person with him, identified by family as his girlfriend, sustained a non-life-threatening graze wound during the violent encounter.
