In the early hours of a violent Saturday in New Orleans, 31-year-old Algeron Washington, a Black male, became one of several victims of gun violence that plagued the city on March 20, 2010. His life was cut short in the Algiers neighborhood, a part of the city separated from the downtown core by the sweeping crescent of the Mississippi River.
