On a Tuesday in July of 1977, a domestic disturbance call led to the untimely death of a dedicated public servant. Sergeant Merlin Eugene Brune Jr., a 37-year-old male officer with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life in the line of duty on July 12th of that year.
