Jailin Tilghman-Deablo, an 18-year-old African American male from Wilmington, NC, tragically lost his life on September 23, 2022. He was shot at the New Hanover Village Apartments on Buckingham Avenue around 3 p.m. and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The incident has been linked to gang violence, with the shooting believed to be a retaliation for an earlier gang-related incident that day.
