Duane Bouvier Oates, a 55-year-old man from Shelby, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on May 15, 2019. Oates was born on November 11, 1963, in Cleveland County, NC, to Ossie Mae Parker Oates and the late Max Gardner Oates. He was a beloved member of his community and was laid to rest on May 20, 2019, at the Washington Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Shelby.
