In the early morning hours of October 16, 2012, Jawan McQueen, a 47-year-old African-American male, was working his shift as a cab driver in Detroit, Michigan. At approximately 4:20 a.m., he was parked at a Mobil gas station on the corner of Harper Avenue and Conner Street on the city's east side when he was ambushed by two individuals.
