Darryl Chatman, a 33-year-old African American man from Cincinnati, OH, was fatally shot on March 7, 2014, in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Chatman was working on a vehicle when an altercation occurred, leading to him being shot in the chest by an unknown individual. The incident took place around 5:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Hamer Street. Witnesses reported that Chatman was not involved in any criminal activity and was simply working on his car when the shooting happened.
