In the early morning hours of August 4, 2022, a burst of violence on a West Philadelphia street cut short the life of 23-year-old Derrick Blye. A Black man from the city, Blye was on Parrish Street when he was struck by multiple gunshots in a double shooting. The attack also left a 17-year-old male wounded, shot once in the neck.
