Paul McMillian, a 48-year-old Black man from Verona in the Pittsburgh area, was killed in the early hours of January 26, 2019, after what began as a confrontation inside The Lounge on Verona Road in Penn Hills and ended in gunfire outside. According to police accounts reported at the time, officers were sent to the parking lot after reports of numerous shots fired just after midnight.
