A mother of 3 is killed in a drive-by shooting Crystal Marie Collins, a 36-year-old Black woman from north Minneapolis, was killed on July 16, 2016, after a burst of gunfire shattered what had been an ordinary summer evening outside her home near 30th and Newton avenues North. Family members said she had just returned from a family gathering and was outside with relatives when shots were fired. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 8 p.m. and found her wounded on the ground; despite CPR efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
