Mark Anthony DeShields, a 29-year-old male Air Force veteran from West Philadelphia, was killed in Chester, Pennsylvania, on January 27, 2012, during the dark, quiet hours before sunrise. He was staying at MinSec, a halfway house in the 200 block of East 12th Street, and by all public accounts, he was nearing the end of his court-ordered sentence there.
