In the summer of 2009, the community of Chester, Pennsylvania, was shaken by the violent death of one of its own. Joseph P. Dickerson III, a 35-year-old African American man known to his friends and family as 'Joe Buzz' or 'Brent,' was killed on June 21, 2009. A lifelong resident of the city and a graduate of Chester High School, Dickerson was a familiar face to many. He was a laborer for a local company at the time of his death.
