He was fatally shot during an altercation in the parking lot of the Dollar General on Sutherland Avenue. The incident occurred when two cars entered the parking lot to conduct a marijuana transaction. During the exchange, gunfire erupted, and Jaqwan Gillette was struck and later pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by officers and emergency medical personnel to save him.
