On December 28, 2017, police in St. Louis, Missouri, launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a deceased individual in The Greater Ville neighborhood. Officers responded to the scene in the 4300 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue, where they located a man inside a vehicle. The victim, identified as 37-year-old African American male Cortez Ivory, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
