Park Harry Wilcox, aged 69, was a dedicated officer with the Chattanooga Police Department in Tennessee. On the evening of January 18, 1979, Officer Wilcox was on foot patrol in Warner Park when he was shot and killed. His body was discovered in a restroom, having been shot twice in the head with his own weapon. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., and other officers began searching for him after noticing an unsecured portion of the park that should have been secured by Officer Wilcox.
