On the evening of September 4, 2014, police in St. Louis, Missouri, responded to a call reporting a shooting in the northern part of the city. At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers arrived at the 4200 block of Obear Avenue, near the intersection with Carter Avenue, where they discovered the body of a young African American male in an open field. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Jared Christian Elam, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The inc ...
