Gemunu James Gamarachchilage, a 58-year-old Sri Lankan immigrant, tragically died on July 30, 2019, after being shot during a robbery at his convenience store, DMJ Groceries, in San Antonio, Texas. Gamarachchilage, who was known for his hardworking and selfless nature, was critically injured in the attack and spent the next 16 months fighting for his life before finally succumbing to his injuries on December 16, 2020.
