On a cold January night in St. Louis, Missouri, the life of 17-year-old Makay Nelson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On January 28, 2014, Nelson was found shot in the 5300 block of Genevieve Avenue. Responding to a call for a shooting, police discovered the teenager inside a vehicle, having sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
