Devin Leal, a 17-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on August 27, 2016, in San Benito, Texas. Devin was attending a gathering with friends when the incident occurred. According to police reports, a friend of Devin's, Jonathan Gamez, who was 21 years old at the time, was handling a .40-caliber pistol when it accidentally discharged, striking Devin in the head. Devin was pronounced dead at the scene.
