John Morris Cain, a 31-year-old male police officer with the Houston Police Department, tragically died on August 4, 1911, in Houston, Texas. Officer Cain was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect who had hopped onto a freight train. When Officer Cain called for the suspect to stop, the man turned and fired two shots, killing him instantly.
