Christine "Chris" Rothschild was an 18-year-old White/Caucasian woman and University of Wisconsin-Madison freshman from Chicago who was studying at the university after graduating with honors from Senn High School. Friends and later university accounts remembered her as an ambitious student who hoped to become a journalist. She had also done some modeling work for department-store catalogs. Official UW-Madison records place her murder on Sunday, May 26, 1968, rather than May 25.
