On the evening of April 10, 2025, the quiet community of Mentone, Alabama, was disturbed by a senseless act of violence that claimed the life of Marcus Adam Battles, a 39-year-old male. Authorities were called to the 3000 block of US Highway 117 at approximately 6:16 p.m. following a report of a vehicle crashing into a residence. First responders arrived to find Battles inside the vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical aid, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
