On the morning of April 4, 2025, police in Kansas City, Missouri, were summoned to a residential neighborhood in the southern part of the city following reports of gunfire. Around 9:15 a.m., officers arrived at the 6300 block of East 102nd Terrace, where neighbors had heard shots fired and spotted a person lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 34-year-old female victim, identified as Janette M. Johnson, collapsed in the street near a Jeep parked outside her residence.
