In the evening hours of a late winter day, tragedy struck in the community of Bellefontaine Neighbors in St. Louis County. On February 28, 2025, police responded to a call for a shooting in the 10100 block of Maraldo Place. Upon their arrival at 8:22 p.m., they discovered 30-year-old Cortez Scott, a male resident of Ferguson, suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
