De'Shawn L. Sturkey, a 19-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally shot on the night of April 16, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin. Although some later memorial listings dated his death as April 17, the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office reported that Sturkey, who was from McFarland, was pronounced dead at a hospital on April 16. The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of Fish Hatchery Road on Madison's south side.
