On March 2, 2025, at approximately 5:13 PM, a tragic incident occurred in the rear parking lot of the Town of Vinton Municipal Building, located at 311 South Pollard Street in Vinton, Virginia. Brian Christian Sledd, a 29-year-old male from Bedford County, was one of two victims who suffered critical injuries during what was later revealed to be a custody exchange. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
