On August 8, 2025, deputies in Homosassa Springs rushed to a home on South Palmer Avenue after a report of a domestic disturbance and gunfire. As patrol units arrived, they heard shots from inside. A juvenile who had been in the residence escaped and provided information while negotiators and tactical teams secured the area. After a tense, hours-long standoff, the suspect surrendered. Inside, authorities discovered 45-year-old Sadie Marie Gochis, female, of Homosassa, deceased from gunfire.
