In the early minutes of May 16, 2025, 29-year-old Black male, Javian Lowery was shot while seated in a vehicle near Waverly Street and Dexter Avenue on Detroit's west side. Detroit police received the call shortly after midnight; family and neighbors awoke to flashing lights and the sudden stillness that follows gunfire.
