In the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the city of Jackson, Michigan, recorded its second homicide of the year with the death of 49-year-old Michael Mishaw. An African American male, Mishaw was discovered by a passerby in a parking lot on the city's east side in the 1600 block of E. Michigan Avenue at approximately 8:45 a.m. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper torso.
