In the early hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026, the life of 34-year-old Luis Sotero Herrera was tragically cut short in what Madison police are investigating as a targeted homicide. A native of Mexico who had moved to Madison, Wisconsin, in 2008, Herrera was a beloved son, brother, and uncle, known for his generosity, love for the outdoors, and his kind and affectionate nature.
