In the late afternoon of a January day, the sounds of gunfire shattered the peace of a South Los Angeles neighborhood, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Tyson Story, a 20-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. on Colden Avenue, near Baring Cross Street, in the Vermont Vista area. When law enforcement arrived, they found Story with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
