In the late afternoon of February 8, 2026, the quiet of a West Columbia neighborhood was broken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 47-year-old Hoyt Mitchell Jennings. A resident of Columbia, South Carolina, Jennings, a man, was found outside a home in the 100 block of Villa Court with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The Lexington County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
