In the early morning hours of February 7, 2026, the life of 28-year-old Eric Alex Short Jr. was tragically cut short in Weldon, North Carolina. A resident of nearby Roanoke Rapids, the young man's body was discovered lying in a roadway on East Eleventh Street at approximately 3:26 a.m.
