Donmaid Brooks, 26, was found shot to death in the Hyde Park area of South Los Angeles on the morning of March 17, 2026, in a killing that unfolded on a quiet stretch near 59th Street and Third Avenue. Police were called to the area at about 6:45 a.m., where they discovered him with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, in a neighborhood just south of Slauson Avenue and west of Van Ness Avenue, and the case was soon being treated as a homicide.
