In the late evening of March 17, 2026, in a residential neighborhood in South Fulton, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, the lives of two teenagers were tragically cut short by gun violence. JMauri Smarr, a 16-year-old male, was fatally shot along with his 14-year-old friend, Jeremiah Carter. Both teenagers were students at Banneker High School. The shooting occurred inside a vehicle in the Cooks Landing subdivision. When police arrived, they found both Smarr and Carter suffering from gunshot wounds.
