In the early morning hours of April 6, 2026, events unfolded in a north Charlotte neighborhood that would leave a family and community in mourning. Tammy McCollum, a 58-year-old woman, was tragically killed in her home on Cardington Court. Responding to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 2 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers discovered Tammy McCollum with gunshot wounds.
