On the evening of April 19, 2026, in Santa Ana, California, 46-year-old Marlon Jaime Castillo was fatally wounded in a shooting that also claimed the life of another man and left a third injured. The incident, which has been described by police as possibly gang-related, unfolded at approximately 8:55 p.m. near the intersection of West Borchard Avenue and South Shelton Street.
First responders arrived at the scene to find three men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, identified as Eusebio Villareal, a 49-year-old resident of Santa Ana, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Castillo, a resident of Fullerton, had also sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was rushed to a local hospital by the Orange County Fire Authority. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. A third man, a 43-year-old from Los Angeles, was also shot but was expected to survive his injuries.
In the wake of the shooting, the Santa Ana Police Department's Homicide Section launched an investigation. Detectives have been canvassing for witnesses and have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the violence. As of now, no arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the deaths of Marlon Jaime Castillo and Eusebio Villareal.
