On the afternoon of June 25, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm on Chicago's Near West Side, claiming the life of 41-year-old Orlando Tobias. The fatal encounter unfolded at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South Claremont Avenue. Tobias was reportedly exiting his vehicle when another car approached, and multiple individuals from within opened fire, striking him multiple times. The assailants' vehicle then sped away, leaving a scene of sudden violence in its wake.
