Danielle Sue Rivera, a 40-year-old woman from Swansea, Illinois, was shot and killed late on August 8, 2026, in Cahokia Heights in what police later described as a domestic-violence-related murder-suicide. Shortly before midnight, Cahokia Heights police were sent to the parking lot of the abandoned American Legion Post 784 on Delano Drive after several people called 911 to report gunfire.
