In the late hours of a Thursday night in July, the life of 18-year-old Deion Byrd was brought to a sudden and violent end. On July 23, 2026, a recent high school graduate with his future ahead of him, Byrd was in the 1000 block of South James Road in east Columbus, Ohio, when gunshots shattered the evening calm.
