In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Houston, a life was tragically cut short, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. Eighteen-year-old Jonathan Mata was with a 20-year-old relative at the Mexcal Cantina Pacifico on the North Freeway on July 19, 2026. What began as a night out with family ended in a fatal encounter in the parking lot of the establishment. An argument broke out between Mata's group and another, a dispute that would have irreversible consequences.
