In the early morning hours of September 5, 2026, the life of 17-year-old Darvel D. Thomas was tragically cut short by gun violence in Cahokia Heights, Illinois. The shooting occurred just after 1:30 a.m. in the driveway of a residence on the 800 block of St. William Drive. When officers from the Cahokia Heights Police Department arrived at the scene responding to reports of gunfire, they discovered two teenagers had been shot.
