Joel McCray "Joe Boy" Lynch, a 50-year-old man from Hollister, North Carolina, was fatally shot on the night of August 30, 2026, outside a convenience store along Highway 561 in Halifax County. Lynch had been born on August 22, 1976, in Halifax County to Prince Lynch and Virginia Richardson Lynch and had celebrated his birthday just eight days before his death.
