In the quiet, early morning hours of August 30, 2026, in Morton, Texas, the lives of two families were irrevocably shattered by an act of violence. Eighteen-year-old Noah Ornelas and his friend, 19-year-old Deven Ponce, were fatally shot in the 800 block of Fillmore Avenue. The Cochran County Sheriff's Office received a call about the shooting at approximately 3:51 a.m. and quickly responded to the scene.
