In the predawn hours of August 29, 2026, the city of Portland, Oregon, was the scene of a grim discovery that would leave a community seeking answers. David R. Lyman Jr., a 56-year-old man, was found lifeless on a sidewalk in the Buckman neighborhood. The quiet of the morning, at approximately 2:34 a.m., was shattered by the response of Portland Police Officers from the Central Precinct to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Southeast 12th Avenue.
